Addiction is
Not a Disease

We at The Mission House North Kitsap firmly believe that addiction is not a disease, it is a sin condition. It is a worship disorder resulting from a deceitful heart.

We have developed a Bible-based, Christ-centered, transformation program designed to establish an intimate relationship with our Creator, our Father in heaven. Whether we are establishing a new relationship or rekindling a broken one, there is only one answer – Scripture.  Scripture is the only way to effectively overcome an addiction.

An addict is ruled by sin, whatever the addiction may be. It has become the master of that person. But this is not true for a Spirit-filled Christian believer. Romans 6:6 states, “That our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is free from sin.” Again in II Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old has gone and the new has come.”

Our Goal

The goal of The Mission House North Kitsap is for the men to establish or rekindle a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 1:16 states, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” Again Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ.”

The Mission House North Kitsap is an extremely structured, Scripture based, God-centered lifestyle. We teach the person to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel. Some other core scriptures are:

  • Galatians 5:16 – “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.” The program trains the person to put God at the core of everything in his life.
  • I Corinthians 10:32 – “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
  • Colossians 3:17 – “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to Him through God the Father.”

The Mission House North Kitsap aids in allowing God to transform the person through the renewing of the mind (Romans 12:1-3). Our goal is to teach how to overcome addiction by obedience to Scripture and by putting our Savior, Jesus Christ, first in every area of our lives.
